Bios
Caroline (Script, Lyrics, Director) is a junior at State College Area High School and is thrilled to be directing this production! She is an avid fan of the Twilight series. She is experienced in musical theatre, having done work on Beauty and the Beast and The Miracle Worker with the State High Thespians. She is also a member of the Master Singers and Cecilian Singers at State High. She would like to say thank you to the amazing cast for all their hard work and dedication, to Ms. Hoffman and Kate for always being there to help and to her family for the amazing support!
Ian Duh (Composer, Additional Lyrics, Music Director) is a pianist, violinist, and composer, though not always in that order. He has studied each instrument around ten years. Ian’s most recent achievements other than Twilight the Musical include first prize at the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra Young Artists’ Competition in February of 2010 and a shared first prize in the Music Academy’s Vera Kochanowsky Piano Competition earlier this month. He will perform the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor on March 14, 2011. Having been a performing musician as long as he can remember, he is excited to try his hand at composing for the first time.
Kate Fischer (Stage Manager, Assistant Director), a State High junior, has had an interest in theatre for around ten years and musical theatre for around 3. Since then, she has done around ten shows, including Sweeney Todd, The Wiz, and Barnum. She is excited to be stage managing for the first time, and would like to give a shout-out: “Caroline—you’re awesome, and good luck with life, wherever you’re going!”
Gladys Duh (Pianist, Assistant Music Director) is a State High freshman. This is her second time in the pit, having played viola in Park Forest Middle School’s Oklahoma! She also sings in choir and plays in orchestra at school. As a classical musician, she represented Pennsylvania at the Northeastern Division MTNA Competitions in the Junior String category.
Kayley Gaines (Bella Swan) is a senior at State High. She is a seasoned actress with numerous productions under her belt, including Sweeney Todd (in which she played Mrs. Lovett), Praise the Egg, and High School Musical to name a few of her most recent projects.
Lars Berg (Edward Cullen), a sophomore at State High, a seasoned actor and avid fan of Twilight, acts in his first musical production. He has recently moved to State College from St. Paul, Minnesota, where he performed in a lead role in his sixth grade play, which was entirely in French.
Jacob Herrera (Jacob Black) is a sophomore at State College Area High School where he is a member of the Master Singers. His past productions include Guys and Dolls, and High School Musical among others. He’d like to include a shout-out: “Thanks Mom, Dad, Gabe, and my friends for the support!”
Alyssa Kifolo (Alice Cullen) is a sophomore at State College Area High School and has participated before in the State High Thespians Cabaret. Alyssa enjoys swing dance and is thrilled to be playing her favorite character in the series.
Mark Kennedy (Jasper Hale) is a junior at State College Area High School. He is a seasoned actor whose past productions include Anything Goes, Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat among numerous others. Mark is also an avid musician—he has taken part in the All-State Choir and Band for two years. He has also attended Interlochen Arts Camp twice, and plans to attend again. He takes hip-hop at CPDW.
Leia Wasbotten (Rosalie Hale) is a junior at State High, where she became an experienced Thespian and musician. She is a member of State High’s Master Singers, and recently placed second in the PMEA All-State Chorus festival. She has been in numerous productions with the Thespians at State High.
Jacob Hamlett (Emmett Cullen), a State High junior, performs in his first show, though he’s been on stage many times playing the trumpet in various State High bands. He performed in Europe as part of State High’s Jazz Band, and would like to give a shout-out “to Ian and Caroline for all the work and dedication you’ve done.”
Cat Eskey (Esme Cullen) is a junior at State High, and she has participated in numerous productions with the Thespians. She is also a member of Master Singers.
Taylor Nodell (Carlisle Cullen) is a senior at State High. He enjoys the Rock Ensemble class and runs cross-country and track. Taylor is also a member of the State High Master Singers and State High’s Men’s Choir, OMA (Only Men Aloud).
Ben Little (James) is a junior at State College Area High School. He has also taken part in several productions. Ben’s most recent role, other than Twilight the Musical, was that of Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd. Ben also enjoys writing music, playing the guitar, and math.
Lacee McCann (Jessica Stanley) is a junior at State High. She is a member of the State High Master Singers and played Mrs. Potts in the Thespians’ 2009 production of Disney’s beloved classic Beauty and the Beast.
Bryanna Kifolo (Angela Weber, Victoria) is a sophomore at State High. She has participated in drama classes offered at State High and participated in the Thespians’ Cabaret in the spring of 2009. She enjoys swing dance and is excited to appear on stage in Twilight the Musical.
Bobby Walter (Mike Newton) is a senior at State College Area High School. His past productions include Spicy Complex and Frosticle (Robert Frost the Musical). He says, “I’d like to thank everyone who made this possible, and thank Jack, Taylor, Donna, Zack, Paula and Shannon for all of their love and support.”
Andy Blunk (Tyler Crowley, Frat Guy) is a senior at State High. He sings in the State High Master Singers and likes to play lacrosse—the team has had great success this year. Andy is looking forward to graduation.
Eric Margusity (Eric Yorkie, Frat Guy) is a senior at State High, where he is the president of the Swing Dance Club. Eric recently performed in the State High Annual Talent Show dancing with the group, “Fantastic Four,” which won second place. In the eighth grade, he danced on stage in Mount Nittany Middle School’s production of Cinderella. Eric also plays trombone and is a member of the State High Marching Band.
Taylor Springer (Amber, Pippy) is a senior at State College Area High School. She has been a part of Spicy Complex among other productions. Taylor says, “I would like to thank Bobby, Marge, Karen, Summer, Luke, and Kirkland for everything you guys do for me. And Caroline for casting me even though I can’t sing!”
Philippe de Fromont (Laurent, Frat Guy) is a junior at State College Area High School. He participated in various choirs for several years, and would like to point out here that he is French. He describes both his characters as “thirsty.”
Kate Hoffman (Renée, Project Advisor) is an English teacher at State High. She taught the Advanced Honors English 10 class, initiating the “inquiry” unit, where students wrote proposals and pursued their own interests, learning for intrinsic motivation—Caroline’s infatuation with Twilight became a script, and Ian’s love of music became a score.
Kevin Hulburt (Charlie Swan) is an English teacher at State High, teaching various ninth grade classes. He sponsors Black Box, an extracurricular improvisational theatre group. Mr. Hulburt is also a musician, occasionally experimenting with songwriting as well.
Dawn Hill (Ms. Banner) is the building secretary in the Main Office of the State College Area High School North Building. She is a die-hard fan of all things Twilight. At State High, she started and sponsored the Humane Issues Club for four years. She would like to thank her family and friends for their support in her efforts to never grow up. She’d also like to thank the amazing cast for allowing her to share in the magic of Twilight the Musical.
